SOUTH ISLAND REGION
The South Island region is home to British Columbia’s capital city, Victoria.
The region is home to smaller centers such as Sidney, a town known for picturesque
marinas and ocean views, and Sooke, a bustling community with strong spirit
and great fishing. West Coast Road (Hwy. 14) leads to the rugged splendor
of the West Coast beaches such as French Beach, China Beach and Botanical Beach
near Port Renfrew as well as to the hiking trails of the Juan de Fuca Marine
Trail.
Also included in the South Island region are the Southern Gulf Islands; Salt Spring, Mayne, Galiano, Saturna, Pender and Gabriola. These islands are known worldwide for their breathtaking scenery, relaxed lifestyle and are havens for vacationers, artists and nature enthusiasts.
